A new tool to fight Opioid addiction in the Commonwealth
Beginning July 1st and pursuant to the PA Department of Health 2018 ALS protocols, Susquehanna Township EMS will voluntarily carry Ketorolac (Toradol) as a pain management tool. This medication is a non-addictive pain management medication that can be used in placed of the medications that EMS agencies already carry such as Morphine and Fentanyl.
In the fight against addiction and the opioid crisis afflicting America, the use of Ketorolac for pain management will help reduce the risk of exposing patients to potent, opioid based pain medications, will still controlling their pain.
This is an important step forward for EMS in the Commonwealth and we would like to thank the PA Department of Health and the Medical Advisory boards that made this step forward in PA EMS.
