Susquehanna Township EMS
Always Ready, Always Here for you for 65 Years and Counting!

Susquehanna Township Emergency Medical Services, Inc. (STEMS) has been providing Basic and Advanced Life Support ambulance service to the residents of Susquehanna Township; as well as Penbrook and Paxtang Boroughs since November 8th 1954. Begining as a volunteer effort on behalf of Progress area residents and civic groups, we now boast both career and volunteer staff handling over 5,400 emergency 9-1-1 calls each year from two stations located in the Northern and Southern sections of Susquehanna Township.

All of our responders are either certified Paramedics or Emergency Medical Technicians and many also serve as EMT, CPR and First Aid instructors at our local training facilities.

STEMS responds on a mutual aid basis to any community in the central Pennsylvania region as their ambulances respond to ours. As the number of ambulance services continues to dwindle, this becomes much more vital.

In addition to our emergency calls we also provide routine non-emergency wheelchair. This service is available Monday through Friday and helps meet a large community need.

Our Community Training Institute remains busy providing CPR, First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and related response training to business and community groups in the region. As part of the American Heart Association training network, we train and support instructors for nursing personnel, police and fire departments.

We are governed by a community board of directors who meet monthly to review our activities and provide advice and direction to our administrative staff.
