Q. What services does STEMS provide?

A. We provide emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We also provide non-emergency ambulance and wheelchair transportation, special event medical staffing, and CPR, First Aid, and Bleeding Control education to the public and businesses.

Q. What Areas does STEMS Primarily Cover?

A. STEMS Covers Susquehanna Township, Penbrook Borough and Paxtang Borough. STEMS also stands ready to respond to   any location as dispatched by the Dauphin County Department of Public Safety. Each Year STEMS responds to approximately 1000+ calls for service outside of our Primary area of coverage.

Q. How many ambulances does STEMS staff?

A. We typically staff one (1) Mobile Intensive Care Unit Ambulance, one (1) Basic Life Support Ambulance, and one (1) Advanced Life Support Squad. At times we also have an Intermediate Life Support Ambulance.

Q. Is everyone on the ambulance an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)?

A. Everyone that is on an ambulance is certified at the EMT or HIGHER! We staff our ambulances with a combination of EMTs, Advanced EMTs, and Paramedics.

 

MEMBERSHIPS

Q. What is the purpose of STEMS’ Membership Drive?

A. We offer the residents of our primary service areas (Susquehanna Township along with Penbrook and Paxtang Boroughs) the opportunity of an annual subscription.  Not only does the subscription help greatly in guaranteeing that we will continue to be here, but, it may substantially reduce your out-of-pocket liability if Medicare or your insurance carrier don’t cover the full charges of your service. Our Membership is designed to save you money!

Q. How is eligible to for a STEMS membership?

A. Any resident of Susquehanna Township, Penbrook Borough, or Paxtang Borough.

Q. Does STEMS Provide Memberships to Citizens outside of our Service Area?

A. Sorry – we can’t offer subscriptions to anyone who lives outside of our primary services area.

Q. Who is covered under the COUPLES Membership?

A. Any two people living together at the same residence who are married or in a partnership.

Q. Who is covered under the FAMILY Membership?

A. Any family members who live together in the same residence on a permanent basis.

Q. Does STEMS honor other EMS Services Memberships?

A. Yes, STEMS honors memberships of EMS Agencies within Dauphin County, including South Central EMS, and Community Lifeteam EMS.

Q. Will I receive a Membership Card?

A. No. Once you send in your membership document, STEMS records and tracks your membership in the event that you require our services. You won’t have to worry about carrying a Membership Card.

Q. Is Non-Emergency Transports (Wheelchair/Ambulance) included with my Membership?

A. While these transports are not free, they are discounted for our Members!

Q. Do I have to pay my Co-pay and Deductibles?

A. As this is determined by you and your healthcare insurer, you are still required to cover your Co-pay and Deductible.
